Chrome Public is an exciting new American Rock Band based in Los Angeles and was formed in 2013. The band recorded their first EP at Titan Studios (Sherman Oaks,CA) with Michael Vail Blum (Madonna,Pink Floyd,Michael Jackson), mixed by Davide Fant and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Rob Halford,Sepultura,Yngwie Malmsteen,Yes). Rock Over America had a recent opportunity to talk with Jess Tzimas about the history and formation of Chrome Public.

Chrome Public Q&A with Jess Tzimas:

Q.) You have some very talented and seasoned musicians in your band, so tell me about Chrome Public, how did this project come about? Who is in the band? How do you guys know eachother? ...and what direction are you guys headed with CP?

JT.) I first met my friend Chandler Mogel (vocals) way back in 2010 in a music festival in Greece, where I was playing with my band and he was playing with his band. We said we should start a band together and so we did, in 2012, when we started writing stuff. At that time I was looking for good and reliable musicians to join the band. I met Dan Mc Nay (bass) and Mike Perkinpine (drums) that year, playing with them in different local bands. They are great musicians and friends-really proud of the boys! Each one has his spot in the band and I think musically the result is just great. We wanted to do something fresh, and something that comes out very natural. I don't know with what other bands we sound like but I would imagine playing in the same festival with bands like Alter Bridge, Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, Five Finger Death Punch.

Q.) Musical genres are so cross-breed nowadays. How would you describe or define Chrome Public's sound?

JT.) We def like the heavy sound and production that nowadays Rock bands have, but still commercial and radio friendly. We worked quite a lot finding the right sound for the EP, thanks to Davide Fant who mixed it and Maor Appelbaum (Halford, Yes, Malmsteen, Sepultura) who mastered it. I would say that we have influences from 70's-80'-90's hard rock til present. Todays music has changed so much and actually there are tons of bands that you can't fit them in a box….like you said, musical genres are so cross-breed. So in general our style is american modern hard rock.

Q.) You have already recorded an album with 5 singles and a cover, tell me where these songs originated, your recording/writing process and what's up with the "Diamonds" cover? Why cover that song?

JT.) I started writing riff and stuff way back, and I did the pre-production process. Then I started sending stuff to the guys and each one put his thing into it. It came out very natural like we have been playing together for years! We recorded at the Titan Studios in Sherman Oaks CA with a big producer, Michael Vail Blum (Madonna, Suicidal Tendencies, HEAT). The idea of doing a cover song came out coz Michael produces and ownes a Label with cover bands and artists. We didn't want to cover an old school rock song, which many bands did that already…but a new song- even pop- which we would take, arrange and fit it in our music style and sound.

Q.) You already have a small following and some fans around L.A. and have been very well received (incidentally, that is how I happened to hear about CP) are you planning a U.S. tour soon?

JT.) We are so looking forward to go out and play! We are planning to do some shows first here in L.A later this year. Meanwhile, we ll write some new songs, starting very soon. In Feb we ll shoot 1 or 2 videos and probably one of them will be for a new song. Also, next year we will head the road since the support and feedback from the people is amazing, and hopefully we ll do a US tour. It's not impossible to go overseas (Europe) and play in a music fest next summer!

Q.) Is there anything else that you would like to add?

JT.) I would like to thank all of our fans for their support and let them know that we have lots of stuff going on…Please visit our official website at www.chromepublic.com -join the email list (tell us which is your fav song and we ll send it for free!), "Like" us on Facebook- we encourage all of you to leave a comment or message there. And of course thank YOU Karla! -Stay Chrome   m/
